FAQs – Policies, Pricing, Etc.

Hello! I hope this page helps clear up any questions and provides insight to my practices and policies!
I am a closed rattery! This means I don’t allow guests to come over and view rats and I practice strict quarantine when brining rats in. This is done to ensure the safety and health of my colony, as well as the security of my home as I run my Rattery out of it! It is imperative in preventing the spread of possible illnesses, parasites, etc. as many are airborne and/or transferable via clothing. If you are concerned about my level of care, practices, etc. I am more than happy to talk them over and provide you with pictures or videos!

LITTERS AND AVAILABILITY

  • How often do you have litters ready?
    • Usually every 1.5-2 months, sometimes a sooner!
  • How many litters do you have at a time?
    • The goal is always a minimum of 2. Usually around 3-4 is my preferred number. Often times one won’t take so that still leaves me with a few litters at once.
  • Will all babies from your litters be available?
    • No. Some litters will be from new lines that I’m not comfortable homing before health or temperament is worked out . Some will remain here to be future breeders as well. I don’t allow for reservations of babies until they’re at least 6 weeks old for standards and 8 weeks for dwarves

PURCHASING YOUR RATS

To go about selecting your rats I take photos with descriptions between 6-10 weeks of age, depending on the line and my own life schedule. These rats have been handled and exposed to varying situations and selected for the best health and temperament before I make them available! I reserve the right to offer certain rats if I feel they will be a better fit for your environment, family, etc.

PRICING

My rats are currently $60 for standard size an $75 for dwarf and hairless. That is subject to change for certain, harder to produce varieties and longer standing lines. Older adults are often available and released at a discount and newer lines may be available at a discounted rate to experienced homes.

I do not condone housing lone rats in most cases and only sell same sex pairs or larger groups!

Rat reservations are done in order of the wait-list (filled out application). I require a $10 per rat non-refundable, non-transferable (unless illness or other issues pop up on my end) deposit to hold your rats within 24 hours of claiming them. Non-refundable deposits for delivery will also be due at that time.

  • HOW TO GET RATS!
    • Fill out this APPLICATION
    • Send my photos of your carrier and cage (as well as your quarantine cage if you have rats already). Please send them to the communication platform you’ve been using to keep things together for ease!
      • It does not need to be fully completed, I just need to know you have suitable enclosures/carriers!
    • I will go over your application and reach out with any questions or to let you know you’re on the waitlist. Please reach out if you haven’t heard from me after a week or so. Sometimes I read it, see no issues, and forget to respond.
    • Congrats, you’re on the waitlist!
    • I send out pictures in order of said waitlist based on what people want (sex, dwarf or standard).
    • You then have 24 hours to send your non-refundable deposit once you get your pics! Without a deposit, the rats are not reserved and I will move to the next people! I accept Venmo, CashApp, and PayPal Friends and Family for deposits.
    • Then we set up a time for you to get your rats! At pickup I accept Venmo, Cashapp, or Cash for payment.

This is not build-a-rat, so please understand that I cannot cater to every desired rat variety (as much as I’d like to have them all!) However, I will cater to squishy, friendly, healthy rats that you’ll fall in love and try to match you with rats similar to what you’re looking for! Sometimes this means I only have blacks, Himalayan, pink/red eyes, etc. because genetics love to throw curve balls. The same goes for sex as the variation of sexes in each litter is wide and a game of chance. Some litters I may only have females, some males, some none because it was too small. I too, have to hold back some in order to continue the lines and allow my girls to retire!

HEALTH GUARANTEE

  • I guarantee the rats you purchase are of the correct and same sex.
  • I guarantee rats leaving my rattery are healthy and parasite free to the best of my knowledge. All rats will have been treated with preventative Revolution prior to going home.
  • New home sniffles are normal for the first week or two and are caused by large stressors and changes in environment. Rats will be sent home with a small care kit to aid in this new home transition.
  • Females are guaranteed to not be pregnant upon leaving, or to have been paired with any males prior to leaving.
  • Rats are to be kept on the appropriate bedding with adequate ammonia and odor control. Rats kept on Carefresh/fluffy paper or fleece alone will automatically void any respiratory health guarantee.
  • Failure to properly quarantine new rats from existing rats will void any health guarantee. This includes bringing in new rats from other sources than my rattery.
    • Proper quarantine involves 10 days per rat, minimum, in a separate airspace. So if you adopt 3 rats, quarantine is 30 days from your other rats. No shared supplies or cross handling between groups. This means handling new rats last in the day, washing hands, etc.
    • Quarantine is essential for the health and well being of the new rats and your current rats. Stress from moving can cause flareups of a variety of issues. It also helps prevent possible pathogens or parasites from transferring to either party from said stress, or with possible asymptomatic carriers.
  • I may offer return or replacement at my discretion, on a case-by-case basis.
